Parables and Questions
Jesus taught in many forms.   From sermons to setting the example, he made sure that his followers understood what it meant o follow God’s will for our lives.

Two of his teaching methods were stories illustrating God’s kingdom and placing the question back on the questioner.

Join us throughout October as we learn from Jesus’ teachings through parables and questions.

A Letter From Ed
As I approach this last day of office as moderator, I would like to thank all of you for your support of the church and its missions.

In addition, I would encourage each person to help "just a little bit more".   We are landlords, and we are stewards of our own property.   As all are aware, our air conditioner for the main sanctuary is no longer operable and needs to be replaced.   The estimated cost for this is $3,000.

A special fund has been started to accomplish this goal.   If we would each contribute a "little extra", and could raise $500 per month, it will take us 6 months (March 2003) to raise the necessary money to replace it.   We need to begin now in order to be able to worship in comfort next summer, and to meet the needs of our tenants.   I encourage each of us to give, as we are able, ear-marked for replacing the air conditioner, into the offering each Sunday.   PLEASE designate the funds in the memo of your check.

Remember, this needs to be above and beyond your pledged giving.

 October Meetings
Board Meeting
October’s board meeting will be Sunday, October 13, following the congregational meeting.   All committee chairs, Elders and members of the Diaconate serve on the board.   Please plan to attend.

Elders' Meeting
The Elders will meet on Monday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m.   All elders, please plan to attend.

Women's Fellowship
Just a reminder that the Women’s Fellowship met on Wednesday, October 2. Our meeting next month will be November 6. All women of the church, our visitors and guests are invited to join us at 7:00 p.m.!

Spiritual Life

Adult Sunday School
Jeremiah is considered a major prophet.   Habakkuk is considered a minor one.   But to God they were both valued children who spoke of faithfulness to the greater purpose of God’s kingdom.   Join us in October as we study the lessons they shared on God’s behalf.

Remember you can find the Scripture text for each week’s study beginning on Thursdays at our church web site www.disciplechristian.org.

For those of you who have not received your study guides, here are the passages we will study:
